The FAQs below relate to the technology behind the RenDx Multiplex Assay System. If you have an enquiry that is not addressed within this list please contact our customer services team.
What assays will be available for use with the RenDx RUO multiplex assay system?
Renishaw Diagnostics has developed the RenDx Fungiplex assay to detect the most common causative agents of invasive fungal infection. In addition, our team are developing further assays that wil aid in the detection of the most common bacterial and viral pathogens associated with gastroenteritis and infection of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).
Is this a nucleic acid based platform?Yes. All RenDx assays detect nucleic acid extracted directly from relevant samples using your existing extraction methods and without the need for culture.
Do I still need to perform PCR?Yes. PCR is carried out on your own platform using specifically designed and optimsed primer sets provided in each assay kit.
What instrumentation is provided as part of the RenDx system? The system includes instrumentation to automate all assay steps post amplifcation. The SP-1000 robotic sample processor ensures that the assays are carried out quickly and reproducibly, while the SA-1000 sample analyser performs rapid identification of samples. DNA extraction and amplification is performed using your own methods and platforms.
Does the RenDx system provide qualitative or quantitative results? Our assays are designed to provide a comprehensive and qualitative pre-screening of samples and are complimentary to alternative quantitative technologies such as q-PCR.
What is surface enhanced resonance Raman scattering (SERRS)?SERRS is the detection system behind the RenDx multiplex assay system and is a powerful information rich analytical spectroscopic technique. More detailed information can be found here.
Will training be provided?Full training on our instruments and assays will be given at system installation. Further training is available on request at any time (terms and conditions apply)
Do you offer system demonstrations?Yes. For further information please contact your regional sales representative.
How do I request more information?Additional information on all aspects of our system can be obtained from our sales team.
Are the RenDx products approved? No. All RenDx products will initially be available as research use only in all markets. Renishaw Diagnostics is currently gathering the relevant clinical data for future IVD applications in the US and Europe.
