Klarite® - The Gold Standard in SERS substrates

Klarite substrates from Renishaw Diagnostics provide a unique solution for analysing and identifying chemical compounds using SERS.

The unique Klarite technology ensures reproducible enhancement of Raman signal so that it may be used in everyday chemical analysis for a wide range of applications, from medical diagnosis and drug discovery to forensics and homeland defence.

Klarite works on any Raman spectrometer with laser excitation wavelengths between 633 and 785 nm.

Our substrates are available in two forms to provide flexibility and ease of use for the end user. They may be purchased as stand alone chips (Product Number: KLA-313) or mounted on glass slides (Product Number: KLA-312).

Slide mounted chips are compatible with standard microscope attachments for Raman instruments and are ideal for users who wish to use standard drop deposition techniques. Alternatively stand alone Klarite chips are designed for applications where greater flexibility with sample deposition is required e.g. immersion and vapour deposition. The active SERS area is 4x4 mm in both cases.

Klarite substrates are available off-the-shelf, as a stable and reproducible substrate consumable. Technical applications support is provided to ensure your first trial is a success.

sCal Raman Calibration Standard

Renishaw Diagnostics sCAL calibration standards provide an easy to use silicon standard for calibration of Raman spectrometers. Further benefits include:

Regular calibration using a physical standard is recommended for all instruments even those with an auto calibration function. This ensures that any internal instrument calibration routines are operating correctly.

Each sCAL device is individually numbered to allow spectra to be linked directly to a particular calibration chip. The silicon is mounted on a standard 75x25 mm microscope glass slide for easy handling and ease of use with Raman systems.

As silicon is a single crystal, the calibration spectra are also identical irrespective of the magnification under which the Raman spectra are recorded, making sCAL highly suited for calibrating micro Raman systems. Silicon is also a very strong Raman scatterer, allowing calibration spectra to be recorded quickly and easily, speeding the verification process.

Using similar production processes to Renishaw Diagnostic Klarite SERS substrates; sCAL substrates offer a quick and easy to use calibration standard. Multiple sCAL slides can be supplied from the same original single crystalline piece of pure silicon. These can then be used for calibrating multiple instruments in multiple sites, offering the reassurance that they are all calibrated to the same original source material.
